The Almere Challenge Event will take place on Almere City FC’s sports grounds, where the pitch in the Yanmar Stadium is currently undergoing a special transformation: the club is the first to bid farewell to artificial grass and opt for a natural surface in the Yanmar Stadium.
Executive Director John Bes: “Apart from the fact that our players prefer to play on a natural surface, based on the current discussions and developments we also anticipate that artificial grass in professional football will be further reduced. It starts with having a vision and your own identity. The advantage of a young club is that you can determine your identity to a large extent. We therefore decided that a natural grass pitch belongs at the club we want to become.”
The current artificial grass, recently voted the best artificial grass pitch in the Jupiler League, is the main pitch for the Almere City Football Academy. In addition, a stand with a capacity of around 400 seats has been built. Our youth teams can train and play their matches here at weekends.
